In the fiscal year 2014-2015, Comilla City Corporation allocated budget of one lac (0.1 million) Taka for implementing the smoke free guideline and Tobacco control activities. From this budget Comilla City Corporation has printed 4000 Smoke Free vigilance notice as per the Tobacco Control Law.
To inaugurate the vigilance notice, Comilla City Corporation has organized a meeting from its own budget on 27th May 2015 in the auditorium hall of Comilla City Corporation. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Md. Monirul Hoque Shakku, Mayor of Comilla City Corporation while Md. Abdul Wadud, Chief Executive Officer of Comilla City Corporation was present as special guest. A total of 25 commissioners and others officials of Comilla City Corporation also participated in the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Md. Didarul Alam from YPSA shared the tobacco control initiatives of Comilla City Corporation and other local governments and also shared about the TC law & smoke free guideline.
At the end of this meeting Md. Monirul Hoque Shakku, Mayor, Comilla City Corporation inaugurated the smoke free vigilance notice and he requested to all councilors including others officials of Comilla City Corporation to display smoke free vigilance notice at their working place. In this meeting Mayor distributed smoke free vigilance notice and smoke free guideline to all the participants.
