Global fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM) in Bangladesh (Malaria Control Program).

Donor: Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM) in Bangladesh.

Duration of the Project: From May 01, 2008 and remain valid till June 30, 2012 .

Goal of the Project:

To reduce 60% burden of Malaria in 10.9 million populations in 13 high endemic districts of Bangladesh by the year 2015

Objective of the Project:

  • To provide quality diagnosis and effective treatment to 90% of the malaria cases in 13 high endemic districts
  • To promote use of ITN / LLINs in 80% –  90% of the households in 13  high endemic districts and selective IRS for containment of outbreaks
  • Strengthen programme management capacity and coordination and partnership in malaria control.

Location:

Rangunia Upazila Under Chittagong District.

Target Groups:

Total Population of high endemic area especially pregnant women & under 5 Children.

Major Activities:
 

    • Health Worker Provide education through forums and households visit.
    • Health Worker treatment to uncomplicated patients and they also ensures drug intake.
    • Health Worker referred to higher facilities if needed.
    • Health Worker Follow up malaria patients.
    • Diagnosis using RDT and Laboratory.
    • Prompt effective malarial treatment.
    • LLIN (Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Net) distribution.
    • ITN (Insecticide Treated Nets).
    • Vector control (other than ITNs)-IRS.
    • BCC: Community level and Mass media.
    • Organize Advocacy Workshop.
    • Organize popular theatre and Folk song.
    • Monitoring drug and insecticide resistance.
    • Coordination and partnership development.
