Project title: Disaster Preparedness by Ensuring Water and Sanitation (DPE-WATSAN) Facilities in Relief Shelters.

Goal:
To reduce the morbidity and mortality caused by inadequate water and sanitation provision in emergency relief shelters in targeted areas of Bangladesh’s cyclone belt.
Objective:
- To provide safe water and sanitary latrines in 20 targeted cyclone shelters (in respect of SPHERE standards).
- To develop community awareness on use of safe water and sanitary latrines during and after disaster
- To develop community capacity on constriction, operation and management of water and sanitation facilities during emergencies.
Duration: One year (July 2009-June 2010)

Now the house hold are aware about on disaster friendly watsan and importance use of sanitary toilets and safe water. They are trying to make safe from water born diseases and keep personal hygiene. They are practicing with soap before taking meal and after use toilet. |
