The areas of Sitakund and Mirsarai are covered by hills, sea, lake, eco-park, coastal forest, beach shade. Easy means of communication, diversity of natural environment and diversity of population have made Mirsarai and Sitakund attractive places for domestic and foreign tourists. The popularity of eco-tourism is being spread in Bangladesh. Only planned and integrated participation of local people can ensure sustainable eco-tourism in these areas. Eco-tourism will ensure the protection of the environment and the development and empowerment of the local people.
Poverty alleviation, conservation of environment and biodiversity is one of the principles of YPSA. Adhering to that principle, YPSA has been successfully implementing development programs in Chittagong, Chittagong Hill Tracts, Cox’s Bazar and Greater Chittagong Division for more than three decades to alleviate poverty, conserve environment and biodiversity, develop and empower local people. In addition, with the support of the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), YPSA is working to promote community-based eco-tourism in Sitakund and Mirsarai.
