COP30 Fellow and Founder and Chief Executive of YPSA, Dr. Md. Arifur Rahman, delivered his speech on Loss and Damage and Climate Justice for Bangladesh at the COP30 Press Conference in Belém, Brazil. His voice reflects the struggle, hope, and resilience of climate-vulnerable communities — reminding the world that Bangladesh deserves urgent global action.
Dr. Arif strongly advocated that the financial assistance for climate action, particularly for adaptation and loss and damage, must be structured as grants, not loans (debt). The current practice of offering loans is pushing vulnerable countries into a debt trap, which cripples their ability to fund essential climate resilience and development projects.
