Technical Officer (Education)

Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) <www.ypsa.org> is an organization for sustainable development, working in the greater Chattogram including Hill Tracts (CHT), Dhaka and Sylhet division since 1985 (International Youth Year).

YPSA is implementing a project titled “Protecting children affected in war and conflict” and SIDA HUM. Norwegian donor Telethon is funding the project through Save The Children Bangladesh till December 2027.But staff salary is paying under SIDA HUM project till December 2025.

YPSA is implementing its education activities at different Camps of Ukhiya sub district under Cox’s Bazar. YPSA is committed to implement Community-Based Learning Facility (CBLF) as well as the Learning Centre (LC) under the project. This position will be recruited under SIDA HUM and merge with TELETHON in appropriate time.

Job Title: Technical Officer (Education)

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly individual work plans and ensure proper implementation of the Project’s Monthly Action Plan
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to teachers to address their challenges in implementing adolescent education intervention by making regular and frequent Learning facility visits for quality-checking.
  • Provide on-the-job training to the teachers (host & Burmese) through measuring performances of both children’s learning and identifying the teacher’s capacity
  • Provide technical input to develop the teachers’ training short package; ensure implementation of the Training Curriculum.
  • Develop a Training Calendar and training Schedule with the design of the training course, conduct teachers’ training, refreshers, and Burmese facilitator’s training along with assessing Teachers’ Training through follow-up.
  • Quality to develop training schedule, outline and training budget.
  • Ensure proper operation and overall management of the CBLFs/ LC under the assigned working area.
  • Keep local-level networks with the different stakeholders and education-related organizations and agencies.
  • Keep strong communication and liaison with Camp In-Charge (CIC), Army commander, and site management, block Mazi, and head Mazi for program and administrative purposes. Ensure proper operation and overall management of the CBLFs/ LC under the assigned working area.
  • Keep local-level networks with the different stakeholders and education-related organizations and agencies.
  • Provide daily progress information to Project Coordinator.
  • Preparing and archiving the monthly report on time
  • Keep good teamwork with other key contact personnel like M&E officer and finance and admin dept.
  • Perform any other assignment given by the project management and the organization.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain open and professional relations with all the project team members, promoting a strong & respectful team spirit, ensuring effective communication, and opportunities for debriefing.
  • Consistently and dedicatedly monitor/assess the safety and security of the team, promptly reporting concerns or incidents to YPSA management and liaising with other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop YPSA programs.

Experience:

  • At least 03years’ experience in the Education in Emergency field (preferably as a technical officer)
  • Ability to communicate in local dialect (Chittagonian Dialect).
  • Ability to prepare different programmatic report writing in English and Bangla
  • Essential and conversant in common IT applications (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, internet browsing & e-mail communications)
  • Computer Knowledge is a must (MS Word, Excel – typing Bangla and English). The applicant will have participated in a competitive computer test.
  • Ability to prepare a different programmatic report in English and Bangla
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports and case study/success story in English and Bangla
  • Sound knowledge of pedagogical aspects and techniques and project cycle management
  • Excellent planning and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish and maintain an effective working atmosphere
  • Good working relationships with colleagues, partners, external actors, and allies
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Knowledge, Skills & Competences:

  • Depth understanding of technical knowledge of education programs (especially in the Rohingya context)
  • Demonstrated coordination and relationship-building skills with the community.
  • Strong ability to respect differences of culture, opinion, and lived experiences while upholding children’s education and right
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, positive and professional attitude, ability to lead and work well in a team setting and with multiple partners.
  • Strengths in listening, empathy, flexibility, and creativity.

Educational Qualification: Master Degree in any subject from a reputed University (B.Ed. or M. Ed degree will get priority)

Monthly Consolidated Salary: BDT 60,900/-
