YPSA Consortium organized National Workshop with BGMEA and Garments Owners

YPSA WorkshopTo fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, the GOB has received grants from the GFATM with Save the Children-USA as the MA. The title of the HIV/AIDS component of Round-6 project is HIV Prevention and Control among High Risk Populations and Vulnerable Young People in Bangladesh. There are 13 package of Round 6 under this title. YPSA Consortium has been implementing the package of GF-912, which title is Primary Prevention of HIV and Risk Reduction through Workplace Interventions in Garments Industries. Save the Children-USA is managing GFATM supported “HIV Prevention and Control among High-Risk Population and Vulnerable Young People in Bangladesh” in collaboration with Ministry of Health & Family welfare. In the 1st phase of the project numbers of workshop will be organized with BGMEA and garments owners, GO, NGO, and other relevant stakeholders on different issues particularly on work place policy and LSE

YPSA WorkshopThe 1st national workshop of YPSA Consortium (YPSA,HASAB,SKUS) on project sharing and Life Skills Education at the work place with BGMEA & Garments owners was held at BGMEA Conference room on May 04, 2008 from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm. The directors of BGMEA, Garments owners & Govt. high officials from Govt. health sector, Associate organizations HASAB & SKUS and representatives from SC-USA (MA) along with YPSA staffs attended in the workshop.

Objectives of the workshop:
1. To share GFATM HIV/AIDS program
2. To share implementation strategy of Life Skill Education with garment owners & BGMEA
3. To build consensus among officials of BGMEA and Garments owners to implement the program at workplace

BGMEA directors welcomed Dr. Rezaul karim Chowdhury, Director (Health), Chittagong Division, Dr. Md. Jalal Ahmed , Civil Surgeon, Chittagong, Mr. M.M. Ershad, Deputy Director, Family planning, Chittagong. with Flowers.

Dr. Lima Rahman, Manager-Health Service & Life Skill Education presented an overview on GFATM. Presentation Title was HIV/AIDS: prevention and strategic Responses in Bangladesh.
