Inception Meeting with different Stakeholders of YPSA-CEVEC Project (Community Engagement in Countering Violent Extremism in Chattogram Division) was held on 29 December 2022 at Upazilla Conference Hall, Sitakund under Chattogram distirict.
Since 2016, YSPA has been implementing a project “Community Engagement in Countering Violent Extremism in Cox’ Bazar (CEVEC) in Eight Upazilas of Cox’s Bazar District with the support of GCERF (Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund) From November 2019. The second round of the project is being implemented in four Upazilas of Cox’s Bazar district (Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Ramu, Chakaria and Moheshkhali) and Sitakund upazila of Chattogram district. In this period of Round – 2 extension YPSA is going to implement project activities in same location as Round-2.
The Inception Meeting with Stakeholders of Round-2 Extension of the project was held on 29 December 2022 at Upazilla Conference Hall, Sitakund under Chattogram district.
The Honorable Assistant Commissioner (Land) & Executive Magistrate of Sitakaund Md. Ashraful Alam was present as the chief guest of the occasion. Pratique Datta, Assistant Commissioner & Executive Magistrate of Deputy Commissioner office, Chattogram; Soumittra Chakrabarti, President of Sitakund Press Club; Md. Ismail Khan, Assit. Upazilla Youth office of Sitakund; Lutfun Nessa Begum, Upazilla Social well fare Officer of Sitakund; S. Mustafa Alam Sarkar, Upazilla Education officer of Sitakund; H. M Tajul Islam Nijami, Chairman 1No Sayedpur Union of Sitakund were present as guest of honor.
The program was chaired by Md. Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive, YPSA; Md. Manzur Murshed Chowdhury the Director of (Economic Development) of YPSA and Mohammad Shahjahan, Director(KM4D & Focal person of this project were present as guest of honor from the organization.
Different Government Officials from Sitakund Upazilla, Media representatives, Teachers, Religious Leaders, NGO representatives, Youth Leaders, Students and project staffs were present at the inception meeting.
At the welcome speech the Chief Executive of YPSA Mr. Md. Arifur Rahman discussed about the background of the project, how the project was developed in 2016 and Rationale for implementation in Sitakund Upazila. In his speech he also expressed his thanks to all the participants for involving themselves with the project activities and their presence at the program. After the chair speech Ms. Khaleda Begum, the Team Leader of YPSA-CEVEC project give a power point presentation about the project modalities, Project Objectives, Goal, Activities and importance of the Stakeholders involvement.
The participants from Government Sector, Teachers, Religious Leaders, Local Government Bodies, Students, and Youth Leaders discussed about the importance of the project in the community level and the importance to involve the stakeholders and their role to prevent violence extremism at the open discussion session.
Soumittra Chakrabarti, President of Sitakund Press Club discussed about the importance of involve civil society in the project activities and the parent’s role to protect youth from violence extremism in his speech.
At the chief guest speech the Honorable Assistant Commissioner (Land) & Executive Magistrate of Sitakaund Md. Ashraful Alam discussed the points that identified from open discussion. He appreciated YPSA’s activities at the grassroots level and requested for keeping coordination with the government and the private level to continue the project activities. He also point out the teachers role and responsibilities, Local Government Bodies role and responsibilities, Religious Leaders role and responsibilities, Youth role and responsibilities, Parent’s and guardian’s responsibilities on preventing violent extremism.
At the end of the program Md. Manzur Murshed Chowdhury the Director of (Economic Development) of YPSA expressed gratitude and thanks to all the participants for their present, involving themselves at the project activities. By the speech of ‘Vote of Thanks’ the ‘Inception Meeting with Stakeholders’ were successfully ended.
