On 17 September 2025, a delegation from the High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh, led by First Secretary Ms. Pearl Wierenga, accompanied by Ruhul Amin-Deputy Advisor, visited Camp 10 of the Cox’s Bazar Rohingya camps to observe education activities supported under the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) program, implemented by YPSA and its partners. The ECW consortium, led by Save the Children, also participated in the visit.
During the visit, the delegation observed ongoing classes at the Peacock-1 Learning Center and interacted directly with Rohingya learners. They also visited a community-based learning facility (CBLF) run by Jagorani Chakra Foundation (JCF) and conducted a home visit to meet a child with a disability who is receiving rehabilitation and school readiness support from Humanity & Inclusion (Handicap International).
The learners, including adolescent girls, shared their experiences, aspirations, and the importance of continuing their education despite the challenges of camp life. They highlighted how access to safe and inclusive learning spaces has motivated them to stay engaged in education and dream of a better future.
Ms. Wierenga emphasized the importance of ensuring sustained, safe, and inclusive learning opportunities, particularly for adolescent girls. She noted that discontinuing the education of these bright and hopeful young learners would be a heartbreaking setback, underlining the urgent need for ongoing support to help them nurture their education, build self-confidence, and prepare for tomorrow.
