National Disaster Preparedness Day 2015 observed

Keeping the slogan “Let us know science based information and bring down losses of disaster” Chittagong District Disaster Management Committee organized a rally and a discussion meeting to mark the National Disaster Preparedness Day on March 31, 2015 at the Conference Room of Chittagong circuit House. Mr. Mezbah Uddin , DC of Chittagong inaugurated the rally flying colorful balloons. Around 300 people from the different trade of life like civil society member, NGO activist, media personnel, teacher participated in the events.

District and Rehabilitation Officer Abul Basar Presided over the meeting while Mr. Mezbah Uddin , DC of Chittagong was present as the chief guest.

By the leading of Faraha Amena katun of YPSA, a large number of volunteer actively took part in the events. The rally was brought on the day from the Silpokola Academy Chittagong and moved by several important places and then gathered at the Conference Room of Chittagong circuit House for a discussion meeting.

At the time their speech they have mentioned that, for many reason of geographical vulnerability natural disaster is very common in Bangladesh .Climate change and manmade disaster has become a great threat to our country. For the reason of climate change Bangladesh is affected by many cyclonic and other natural disasters such as sea level rising, flood, drought, cold wave etc. Most of our people are not conscious about considering environment their different activities. Lack of consensus political instability is very common here. Above this reason has also posed a great threat in our country. But in the age of science we can mitigate the loss of life and property of disaster by using scientific technology. This is why deputy commissioner office in Chittagong together with many government and non government organizations observed this day to create awareness about scientific technology for reducing loss of life and property.
