YPSA observes International Day for Disaster Reduction

Chattogram District Administration organized a rally and mock drill demonstration on the occasion of International Day for Disaster Reduction at the Nasirabad Girls High School premises, Chattogram on 13th October, 2018. YPSA observed this day in collaboration with DC office; Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defence and other non-government organizations.

Chief Guest of the program Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Md Elias Hossain inaugurated the program by flying balloons. After the rally, Fire Service & Civil Defence demonstrated a Mock Drill at the Nasirabad Girls High School premises. Red Crescent Society’s volunteers and students of the Nasirabad Gilrs High School participated in the mock drill demonstration. Some techniques were shown such as how to escape and take necessary step to rescue effected people during the disaster time.

The United Nations General Assembly has designated 13 October as the International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR) in order to promote a global culture of disaster reduction, including disaster prevention, mitigation, and preparedness. The theme of the International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR) in 2018 is reducing disaster economic losses in relation to global GDP by 2030. Keeping this in mind, the day was observed across the country.
