YPSA organized a two-day training workshop on “Grassroots Journalist Group” at Sitakund during 28-29 June with the support of Actionaid Bangladesh. 15 students and guardians of sponsored child from different areas of Sitakund attended the workshop.
who journalists are and what they do, what qualities need to be a good journalist, The purpose of journalism, role and status of journalism, different forms of journalism etc. were discussed in the workshop.
“Grassroots media is the power of individuals in society to raise awareness about the stories affecting their lives. Citizen journalists use the power of existing media tools to create content, engage communities, and spur action on issues all around the world. As media tools become more accessible, grassroots media is growing into a powerful force, one that advocates and marketers ignore at their own peril. This training will empower attendees to understand develop their own grassroots media campaigns to either support or monitor their issues.” Said Newaz Mahmud, Program Officer, YPSA at the opening session in the workshop.
