Press conference on Stop Violence, Build a Peaceful Nation

“Bangladesh is an independent democratic country with multi-languages, multi-religions and multi-communities. For a long time we’ve been living with peace and harmony. Before and after every national election even local government elections, various kinds of violence occur often that should never happen. We all want to live with peace and harmony with the values of our national heritage. Religion is for individuals but state is for all. We respect our own religion as well as respect other religions. When violence spread all over the country, which is a growing concern throughout the generations. Public security, livelihoods and economic growth goes into threat. This campaign recognizes the immense potential of social harmony and tolerance. We do not want to see any violence. Against such violence, we want to build mass awareness and social movements” speakers said in a press conference jointly organized by Jatio Samagik Shampriti- Chittagong Nagorik Committee (National Social Harmony-Chittagong Citizen Committee), ELMA and YPSA at Chittagong Press Club.

“Bangladesh stands with me: together, let us end violence and build a peace full nation” is a national campaign to raise awareness on the importance of social harmony with the slogan “Stop Violence, Build a Peaceful Nation”.

Dr. AQM Sirajul Hoq, Convenor of Nagorik Committee, Md. Gias Uddin, Councilor of CCC and member of Nagorik Committee, SM Najer Hossain, President and Md Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury General Secretary of Cab Chittagong, Ms Jesmin Sultana Paru from ELMA were present while Md. Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive of YPSA presented the keynote paper in the conference. Journalists from different electronic and print media attended the press conference.
