YPSA and RHDO jointly formed a human chain in front of Town Hall in Comilla to spread the message “Smoking is prohibited in public places and public transports, tk. 300 can be fined for public smoking” on December 2, 2014
Human chain was inaugurated by Dr. A.K. M Abdus Salim. He said that all of us should obey the smoke free law. The volunteers distributed stickers, leaflet & smoke free guide line to the participants to the human chain containing many harmful messages,
In Bangladesh at least 57 thousand people die each year from eight leading tobacco related diseases. In addition, 382 thousand people become disabled each year from tobacco related illnesses.
Md. Jobaiyer Alam, Councilors, Comilla City Corporation, Kazi Mahtab Uddin, Director of RHDO, Abdul Awal, journalist, civil society members, smoke free coalition members, students, YPSA representative Md. Didarul Alam participated in the program.
