Heidi Chan, Project Coordinator, Democratic Governance, UNDP visited YPSA’s ongoing baseline survey of Youth Empowerment for Development project on 30 June 2015. She made a visit to five wards of Chittagong City Corporation and talk to the interviewer and respondent of the survey. Muhammad Salahuddin Khan, Program Analyst, UNDP was also present during the visit. This baseline survey is being conducted among 250 youth in Chittagong City Corporation, where 50% will be female participants.
The thematic issues of the survey are fundamental rights, education, health, employment, disaster management & climate change, disability, community development; engagement and governance.
During her visit Heidi Chan was accompanied by Md. Shahjahan, Project Focal Person and Dr. Biswarup Deb, Project Manager of Youth Empowerment project, YPSA.
After field visit, UNDP team attended a meeting with five data collectors (interviewers) and YPSA team at YPSA head office to exchange experiences and discussed about future plan.
The Youth Empowerment Project is a pilot project designed to provide the preparatory steps to launch a comprehensive youth program dealing with voice and accountability and unemployment issues. The expected outcome of the project is to form networks of national and local actors for youth engagement and conduct research on youth employment and entrepreneurship. This pilot project will be implemented in the Chittagong City Corporation area focusing on 3 wards and targets groups are the youth of age between 15 and 25.
