YPSA connected the Returnee Migrants with DEMO, Chattogram through Facebook Live Program

Meeting

On 24 September 2020, YPSA has organized a coordination meeting with the support of District Employment and Manpower Office (DEMO), Chattogram. The types of stakeholders of this meeting are DEMO, Chattogram, Mohilla Technical Training Center, Chattogram, Bangladesh Korea Technical Training Center Chattogram (BKTTC), Migration NGO’s representative, Aspirant Migrant, Returnee Migrants, Migrants Family Members,  Grievance Management Committee (GMC) and Media People. About twenty eight participants were present in this meeting.

This meeting was presided by Mr. Zahirul Alam Mazumder, Deputy Director, DEMO-Chattogram. The meeting parted on different sessions. Firstly, DD, DEMO Chattogram made a welcome speech to invited participants and guest. And then, Vice Principal, BKTTC and Principal Mohilla TTC, Chattogram given a greetings speech to all. In that speech the stakeholders, emphasized the importance of training, skills and their existing services to migrants.

 

Later on, Abdus Sabur, Program Manager, YPSA facilitated a session on sharing the experiences and suggestions of returnee migrants and migrants family members. This event has innovation as live broadcasted on DEMO, Chattogram Facebook Page. YPSA provided technical support in this regard. As a result the distant migrants can remotely participate the event like a live attendee.   The returnee migrants shared they suffering various problems as faced social discrimination, isolation, economic crisis, extreme uncertainty, visa expired and instability. In this meeting, returnee were requesting to government to extend the visa, should brought the migrants and migrants family under the government safety net, financial support, reduce the flight cost etc.

Participants

Beyond that, in that meeting the migration NGO’s (BRAC, Caritas, Gashful, Songshoptak) were attending the coordination meeting and shared their efforts and action of different welfare activities around the migrants.
