Director (KM4D) visits YPSA-RHL project activities in Ramu

August 27, 2025, Wednesday, Mr. Mohammad Shahjahan, Director, KM4D, YPSA and Mr. Mohammad Harun, Focal Parson, YPSA Cox’s Bazar visited various activities of the “Resilient Homestead & Livelihood Support to the vulnerable coastal people of Bangladesh (RHL)” project implemented by YPSA with the supported by PKSF in Ramu Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.

During the field visit to various activities implemented under the RHL project, they visited  Climate Resilient Houses constructed for the extreme poor beneficiaries with the project’s support, Slatted Goat Houses constructed for goat/sheep rearing in a modern way/technology, crab farming/fattening in a modern way with the project’s technical and financial support for alternative livelihood of the beneficiaries and increase family income, ginger farming in gunny bag for additional income besides meeting family needs, and windbreakers tree plantation activities in the homestead areas to protect houses from cyclones and tidal wave caused by climate change.

During the field visit, they exchanged views with the beneficiaries and community stakeholders who received support from the project about the various activities implemented under the project and listened to their experiences and successes. During the exchange of views, they said that these activities are/will play an important role in ensuring security through sustainable development through secure housing, livelihood and income generation for the climate-vulnerable coastal people.

After visited the field level activities, they participated in a discussion meeting with the YPSA-HL project staff. The meeting discussed the progress, challenges, learnings of the project activities implemented in the 2024-25 fiscal year and the plan for the successful implementation of the activities in the 2025-26 fiscal year. Director, KM4D, YPSA appreciated the sincerity and initiative of the staff concerned for the successful implementation of the project activities at the field level and provided guidance to make the activities more sustainable and beneficiary-friendly.

He said – YPSA believes that through the YPSA-RHL project, it is possible to make the livelihoods and housing of people in climate-vulnerable coastal areas more resilient and safe through community participation and sustainable development initiatives.

It is worth mentioning that in the meeting, Project Coordinator Mr. Md. Aminur Rahman presented the goals and achievements of the YPSA-RHL project up to June 2025, the targets for the fiscal year 2025-26, the means of success in achieving the project’s goals, the challenges/constraints during the implementation of the project activities, the steps taken to address the challenges and the lessons learned from the project through a power point presentation. Mr. Pompu Barua, Area Manager of the Cox’s Bazar area of the Economic Development Program of YPSA, discussed in detail the loans disbursed under the RHL project. The meeting was moderated by Mr. Mohammad Harun, Focal Person, YPSA, Cox’s Bazar. All the staff of the YPSA-HL project were present in the said visit and meeting.
