In a significant step toward reintegrating human trafficking survivors, YPSA, under the FSTIP Project, signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Hotel Unity Inn and Inani Beach Resort & Spa in Cox’s Bazar on September 4, 2025.
These partnerships represent an important milestone in engaging the hospitality sector for survivor reintegration. As a direct outcome, two survivors of human trafficking have already secured employment in these hotels, while both hotel managements expressed their willingness to provide employment opportunities for three more survivors in the near future.
The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both organizations, including:
- From YPSA:
- Mr. Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Head of Rohingya Response Program and Deputy Director, Networking & Strategic linkage Unit – NSU & Focal Person, YPSA-FSTIP Project
- Mr. Mohammad Harun, Focal Person, Cox’s Bazar
- Ms. Hosna Ara Rekha, Project Manager, FSTIP Project
- Mr. Abidur Rahman, Program Officer (Livelihood), FSTIP Project
- From Winrock International:
- Mr. Shah Alam, Senior Regional Coordinator
The MoUs establish a framework for cooperation, ensuring victims of human trafficking (VoTs), victims of child marriage (CM), and other YPSA beneficiaries have access to temporary shelter, skills development, and safe employment. The hotels will also offer discounted facilities for survivor-related activities and provide internship and training opportunities in various hospitality roles. In return, YPSA will coordinate and manage these activities, ensuring that survivors are well-prepared for these new opportunities.
The signing of these MoUs with Hotel Unity Inn and Inani Beach Resort & Spa highlights the commitment of the private hospitality sector in Cox’s Bazar to support the reintegration of trafficking survivors. By offering safe employment, training, and access to facilities, the hotels are demonstrating exemplary corporate social responsibility.
These agreements, which are valid for five years, are not legally binding but represent a strong partnership. YPSA’s efforts, with support from Winrock International, plan to continue strengthening such collaborations to expand livelihood opportunities, reduce stigma, and empower survivors to rebuild their lives with dignity.
