On 15 October 2025, the Deputy Managing Director of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Honorable Dr. Fazle Rabbi Sadeque Ahmed, along with Mr. Al-Imran, Assistant Project Coordinator (Value Chain Specialist) of the RHL Project, visited various field-level activities implemented under the project titled “Resilient Homestead & Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh (RHL)”, which is being implemented by YPSA with financial support from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and technical support from PKSF in Ramu Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
Representing YPSA, the following officials were present during the field visit: Mr. Mohammad Shahidull Islam, Deputy Director and Head of Rohingya Response, YPSA, Mr. Mohammad Harun, Focal Person, YPSA Cox’s Bazar, Mr. Pompu Barua, Area Manager, EDP, YPSA Cox’s Bazar, Mr. Md. Aminur Rahman, Project Coordinator, YPSA-RHL Project and all officials of the YPSA-RHL Project team.
During the field visit, the honorable visitors observed various activities implemented under the RHL Project in different villages of Fatekharkul and South Mithachhari Unions of Ramu Upazila. These activities included the construction of Climate-Resilient Houses for ultra-poor beneficiaries, modern slatted goat house for improved goat/sheep rearing, crab farming and fattening as alternative livelihood options, ginger cultivation in sacks and saline tolerant vegetable gardening in the homestead area for household consumption and income generation, and windbreak tree plantation around homesteads and institutions yard to protect lives, houses, and the environment from cyclones and tidal surges caused by climate change.
The honorable visitors also attended a meeting of the Climate Change Adaptation Group (CCAG), where they interacted with project beneficiaries and community stakeholders, listened to their experiences and success stories, shared their valuable feedback and provided important guidance to beneficiaries.
During the exchange, they expressed that the project is playing a significant role in ensuring sustainable development through safe housing, improved livelihood opportunities, and income generation for climate-vulnerable coastal populations.
After visiting the field activities, the honorable visitors visited YPSA-HRDC, Cox’s Bazar, where they observed different facilities and ongoing initiatives. During the visit, they highly appreciated the YPSA-RHL Project Team, management team, and field-level activities implemented by YPSA, as well as the overall operations of YPSA-HRDC.
They also discussed various modern strategies for enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of field-level activities, as well as possible future interventions under the ongoing project. They praised the sincerity and dedication of the project staff and YPSA Management in implementing activities successfully and provided valuable guidance to make the interventions more sustainable and beneficiary-friendly.
The honorable visitors further stated that: “PKSF and YPSA firmly believes that through the RHL Project, the livelihoods and housing security of climate-vulnerable coastal people can be made more sustainable and resilient through community participation and sustainable development initiatives.”
