YPSA Signs MoU with Port City International University’s Department of Journalism and Media Studies

YPSA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Port City International University (PCIU). The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, at the university’s auditorium.

Dilruba Akter and Shahin The MoU was formally signed by Mohammad Ali Shahin, Assistant Director and Focal Person of YPSA’s Advocacy Unit, and Dilruba Akter, Head of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, PCIU.

The agreement, valid for three years, aims to foster collaborative efforts in the areas of student research, internships, project work, public relations, and development communication. The partnership is intended to bridge academic knowledge with practical, field-based experience.

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Mainul Hasan Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law, stated:

“In today’s fast-evolving world, practical knowledge is crucial for students. To thrive in the competitive job market, a combination of academic knowledge and hands-on skills is essential. This MoU will create valuable opportunities for our students.”

Professor Dr. Ganesh Chandra Roy, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), added:

“While signing an MoU is a significant step, the real impact lies in the successful implementation of the commitments made. We are confident this collaboration will translate into meaningful outcomes.”

Representing YPSA, Mohammad Ali Shahin remarked:

“Both of our institutions carry strong responsibilities toward society. Collaborative initiatives can lead to substantial, positive change. This MoU creates a framework for joint action and innovation.”

He also expressed YPSA’s readiness to support future student-led initiatives:

“As the largest development organization in Chattogram, YPSA is always prepared to work with the university on new ideas. Our doors are open for collaboration.”

Addressing students, Shahin encouraged them to engage in research:

“YPSA hosts numerous national and international researchers. Students interested in research are welcome to utilize our resources.”

Dilruba Akter, Head of the Department, highlighted the relevance of the partnership:

“Our curriculum includes several courses on development communication. This MoU will play a crucial role in applying our academic teachings to real-world development work.”

Distinguished attendees included University Proctor Rashed Khan Milon, Senior Lecturer Prashanta Kumar Shil, Lecturer Taslima Akter Irin, Sarowar Ahmed, General Secretary of the Journalism Alumni Association, Tufayeluur Rahman, Program Officer at YPSA, and students from the department.
