Dr. Md.Arifur Rahman, Founder and Chief Executive of Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), and Afra Nawar Rahman, Youth Coordinator of YPSA, participated as part of the Civil Society Organization (CSO) delegation at the 13th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD 13) held in UN ESCAP, Bangkok, Thailand.
The Forum was convened by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), bringing together governments, civil society, and other stakeholders to review regional progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As part of the CSO delegation, the YPSA representatives attended plenary sessions and stakeholder discussions, contributing to the broader civil society engagement in the regional SDG review process.
They also contributed to the APFSD Youth Forum organized by the Asian-Pacific Resource and Research Centre for Women (ARROW), where young delegates from across Asia-Pacific consolidated priorities into a regional Youth Call to Action.
Key messages from the Youth Call to Action included:
– Ensuring meaningful and institutionalized youth participation in SDG implementation and review processes
– Advancing climate action and environmental justice
– Promoting gender equality and inclusive development
– Strengthening accountability and partnerships to accelerate progress on the 2030 Agenda
During their visit to Bangkok, the YPSA delegation joined a discussion meeting followed by an Iftar that was hosted at the Embassy of Bangladesh to Thailand . The meeting was held with H.E. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand and Permanent Representative to UN ESCAP.
The discussion provided an opportunity to exchange views on Bangladesh’s engagement in regional sustainable development processes and the role of civil society in contributing to SDG implementation.
