Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) (www.ypsa.org) is a non-governmental organization working for sustainable development in the Greater Chattogram Division since 1985 (International Youth Year). Job Location: Banshkhali Upazila/Sitakunda Upazila/Mirsharai Upazila of Chittagong district/Moheshkhali upazila/Ramu Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
Duration: Depends on Trade
Supervisor: Centre in Charge
Purpose: The Trainer (TVET) will be responsible for planning, delivering, and monitoring competency-based Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses for youth participants under the EARN Project. The Trainer will facilitate practical and theoretical training, ensure quality learning outcomes, support trainees in developing employability skills, and coordinate with project staff, employers, and relevant stakeholders to enhance participants’ employment and self-employment opportunities. The position will also contribute to creating an enabling social environment that supports and fostering inclusive, gender-sensitive approaches to enterprise development and skills training.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitation of Trade specific Training
- Design and Deliver competency-based TVET training in the assigned trade(s) following the approved curriculum and training schedule.
- Use participatory and gender-sensitive training methodologies to ensure inclusivity and relevance for both male and female youth participants, especially NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) women.
- Prepare lesson plans, training materials, practical exercises, and assessment tools in accordance with NSDA/BTEB or other approved competency standards.
- Conduct both theoretical and practical training using participatory and learner-centred approaches.
- Assess trainees’ knowledge and practical competencies through continuous and final assessments, maintaining accurate assessment records.
Enterprise Development Training
- Conduct training on basic entrepreneurship concepts, including idea generation, business planning, financial literacy, marketing, risk assessment, and customer service.
- Support participants in developing business plans or career pathways tailored to their skills, interests, and local market opportunities.
Curriculum Adaptation and Development
- Adapt and contextualize training modules and materials to reflect the local socio-cultural context and project goals.
- Collaborate with technical specialists to continuously refine and improve training content based on participant feedback and learning outcomes.
Individual and Group Coaching and mentoring
- Provide one-on-one and group coaching, mentoring, and career guidance to trainees to improve their technical competencies, employability, and workplace readiness.
- Help to build the confidence and motivation of participants to pursue self-employment or wage employment.
Monitoring and Assessment
- Track participants’ attendance, engagement, and progress through pre- and post-assessments, session evaluations, and observation.
- Maintain detailed records and contribute to regular progress reports and learn documentation.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with Community Mobilizers, Center In-Charges, and other field staff to ensure smooth participant engagement and integration of training into broader project activities.
- Engage parents, employers, and community members where relevant to promote understanding and support for behavioral and entrepreneurial development.
Quality, Safeguarding, and Accountability
- Ensure activities comply with Child safeguarding, PSEA and accountability policies and procedures of the organization.
- Promote meaningful participation of young women and ensure activities are inclusive and culturally appropriate.
- Support community feedback mechanisms and follow up on issues raised by participants.

- Supporting to ensure a workplace free of any types of discrimination and identity-based violence
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Engineering or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline from a recognized institution.
- National Skills Certificate (NSC) Level-III/IV or above in the relevant trade, issued by the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) or an authorized awarding body., Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBT&A) Certificate, Training of Trainers (ToT) Certificate in Competency-Based Training (CBT) or TVET methodology.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in delivering TVET or skills development training.
- Certificate on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) or Workplace Safety (desirable).
- Experience working with government training institutions, NSDA/BTEB, development partners, or NGOs will be an added advantage.
- Sound technical knowledge in the relevant trade.
- Computer proficiency, including MS Office and digital learning platforms.
Core Competencies and Skills
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering participatory training on TVET, ensuring interactive, learner-centered, and gender-responsive facilitation.
- Strong knowledge of youth development principles, particularly engagement of NEET women and vulnerable groups in skills-based programming.
- Practical experience in entrepreneurship and enterprise development training, including business planning, financial literacy, market analysis, risk assessment, and customer service.
- Competency in guiding participants to develop viable business plans and career pathways aligned with local market systems and livelihood opportunities.
- Proven ability to prepare structured lesson plans and deliver curriculum-based training using diverse methodologies (presentation, demonstration, practical exercises, Q&A, lecture, and group discussion).
- Experience in contextualizing and adapting training materials to local socio-cultural realities while aligning with project objectives and learning outcomes.
- Monitoring and assessment capacity including attendance tracking and maintaining accurate training documentation.
- Effective collaboration skills, working closely with Community Mobilizers, Center In-Charges, and technical specialists to ensure integrated program delivery.
- Sound understanding of safeguarding, Child Protection, PSEA, and accountability frameworks, ensuring compliance in all training activities.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills in Bangla and English (verbal and written), with the ability to create inclusive, respectful, and culturally appropriate learning spaces.
