Citizen Consultation on Inclusive and Informative Society with Effective, Accountable and Transparent Institution for Sustainable Development held
“Advancing sustainable human development requires democracy. Liberal democracy requires extensive public freedoms of speech and access to information. Good governance is essential to achieve development while true participatory democracy ensures that development is equitable and sustainable. Public institutions need to be able to manage public resources and conduct public affairs in a manner that is free of corruption and abuse. ” speakers said in a Citizen Consultation on Inclusive and Informative Society with Effective, Accountable and Transparent Institution for Sustainable Development, held at Hotel Saint Martin, Chittagong on 6th October 2015 jointly organized by Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka, UNDP and YPSA.
Professor M. Abu Yusuf, University of Dhaka and Kamrul Hasan from UNDP gave welcome speech in the program and keynote paper was presented by Dr Kazi Maruful Islam, Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka.
People from all walks of life including government officials, elected government representatives, journalists, university teachers, development activists, human right activist, businessman, doctors, engineers, PWDs and youth participated in the program.
