Inauguration of 'Women Support Center' in Cox's Bazar

In order to provide legal support to women, ‘Women Support Center’ has been inaugurated at the District and Sessions Judge Court premises in Cox’s Bazar. District and Sessions Judge Mir Shafiqul Alam formally inaugurated the center on Monday September 10th.

With the joint assistance of UNFPA and Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK), services to be provided from the ‘Women Support Center’ are – receiving complaints of women and children suffering from abuse, verifying information of violence and providing legal aid, providing legal aid to the victims of child marriage and preventing child marriage, providing psychosocial services to victims of torture, coordinating with other service providers if necessary, raising of public awareness to prevent all forms of violence against women and children.

This is an initiative of YPSA’s project ASTHA: Strengthening Access to Multi-sectoral Public Services for GBV Survivors in Bangladesh, which is jointly supported by Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) and UNFPA.
