YPSA Chief Executive Md. Arifur Rahman visited United States of America (Washington DC, Nevada and California State) from 11th April – 6th May 2012 on invitation of US Department of State as Legislative Fellow . Legislative Fellow Program is intended to strengthen the understanding of the US legislative process and civil society’s role in the political process, and to foster relationships among Bangladesh and American institutions.
World Learning Inc. is organized this program with the sponsorship from US Department of State. Through this program he gained an understanding of the U.S. legislative process, enhance their appreciation for the role of civic society and its engagement in the political process; increase their understanding of the minority and immigrant experience in the United States, especially as it relates to political integration and governance, improve their knowledge base and practical competencies to help strengthen organizational capacity, develop and implement projects or programs in their home country that promote good governance, civil society, and solid institutions,
This program contributed to create linkages between American and Bangladesh governments, institutions, and citizens, and Increase regional cooperation among governments and civil society . Under this Program, he gets the opportunity to physically visit the activities of Government institutions and civil society organizations at different level and able to know the mechanism of how the policy level people, practitioners and academia participate in the process.
