YPSA with the support of Actionaid Bangladesh organized a meet the press on “Involvement of Persons with disabilities (PWD) with the mainstream development through survey of PWDs” at National Press Club on 29 August 2013. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Liberation War Major (Retd.) Rafiqul Islam MP (Bir Uttam) was present as chief guest while Ms. Farah Kabir, Country Director of Actionaid Bangladesh, Mr. Mansur Ahmed Chy, Former member of committee of UN convention on rights of persons with disability and Md. Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive of YPSA delivered their speech in the program. Journalists from different TVs and Newspapers attended the program.
YPSA conducted a survey to identify people with disabilities at Shahrasti Upazila, Chandpur and developed an online database. The survey shows 4740 people have been identified as persons with disabilities and all information inserted into the online database. The digital database can be browsed on www.survey.ypsa.org.
Mr. Vashkar Bhattachrjee discussed about the database and Mr. Abdullah Al Shakir presented the database web portal through multimedia projector in the program.
