A sharing meeting on “Implementation of Tobacco Control law in Laxmipur” was held on 11 November 2015 at the conference hall of civil surgeon office, Laxmipur. Dr Md Golam Faruque Bhuyan, civil surgeon Laxmipur was chief guest of the meeting. The meeting was organized by the civil surgeon office Laxmipur with the support of YPSA (Young Power in Social Action) & GEMS. District education officer Mr. F A Abdul Jabbar; Deputy director (Youth) Laxmipur Mr. Projesh Kumar Saha; DD Agriculture Mr Golam Mustafa and Laxmipur district Information officer Mr Md Abdullah Al Mamun were present in the meeting. Ex Principal Laxmipur College Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman presided over the meeting.
Restaurant owner association, bus owner association, NGOs, journalist, Bar association, local government representatives attended the meeting.
“Taskforce meeting and mobile court will be conducted in Laxmipur district to ensure the implementation of tobacco control law. A coordinated efforts is needed from all government departments including the local government to ensure tobacco free environment in the Laxmipur district” said Dr Md Golam Faruque Bhuyan, civil surgeon of Laxmipur district.
Md Omar Shahed Hero, program officer, YPSA presented the key note paper by multimedia presentation and moderated by Mr. Asaduzzaman Asad E D GEMS.
All the participants agreed that they would implement the tobacco control law in their own jurisdiction area.
