An inception meeting of 19 no South Bakaliya Ward Disaster management committee was held at 19 no Ward councilor’s office on 28th January, 2019 in Chattogram. YPSA (Young Power in Social Action), an organization for sustainable development, organized the meeting under the project “Proyash Phase II” with the support of Save the Children. Ms Farzana Parvin, 17, 18 and 19 no ward Councilor (reserved) and Vice President of the Ward Disaster Management Committee, presided over the meeting. She said that, “Besides government’s initiatives NGO’s activities are praiseworthy regarding disaster related works.” She also added that, every person of the society should work with honesty for the sake of development.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Dukul Barua, Project Coordinator (Proyash II)-YPSA; gave a short brief of YPSA’s disaster related activities. After that Mr. Simon Rahman, Project Manager (Proyash II) – Save the Children; said that it will be easy task to find out the risks and resources of this ward with the support of Ward Disaster Management Committee’s member.
YPSA’s Documentation Officer Ms. Tamanna Begum gave an overview of the project and Ms. SanzidaAkter, M&E Officer of YPSA; presented the roles and responsibility of WDMC. This program was facilitated by Mr. AtaulHakim, Project Officer of YPSA. Freedom Fighter Mr. GolamSarwar, Dr. RajibBishwas, Char Chaktai City Corporation School’s Headmaster Mr. Jashim Uddin, FSCD’s Representative Mr.GolamMostafa and so on were also present in the meeting.
