On June 22, 2021, at the Dewanhat Fire Station Training Center, under Proyash II project supported by of Save the Children, YPSA has organized Search, Rescue, First Aid & Fire Fighting Training Course conducted by Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defence, for Ward – 8 Urban Community Volunteers of Chattogram City Corporation. Mr. Shamim Ahsan Chowdhury, Deputy Director, Fire Service and Civil Defense presided over the inaugural session of the training.
President of Standing Committee (Water and Power department) and Councilor of Ward-8, Morshed Alam attended the meeting as chief guest. Also Chairman of the Standing Committee (WDMC) and Councilor of Ward-9 Zahurul Alam Jasim, Palash Chowdhury, Director (Finance), and Project Coordinator Sanjida Akter attended the event as special guest. The meeting was moderated by Newton Das, Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense.
Sanjida Akhter applauded 50 Urban Community Volunteers for their eagerness to take the training course to work as first responder during any emergency. Palash Chowdhury, Director (Finance) of YPSA agreed with her and said that to work as group of successful volunteers unity is one of the requirements for any social development work.
Shamim Ahsan Chowdhury, Deputy Director, Fire Service and Civil Defense, said, “All of the 50 Urban Community Volunteers receiving training course will work our associate of Fire Service and Civil Defense from today. We will actively support the volunteers. ”
Mr. Morshed Alam, said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s initiative to train 62,000 urban community volunteers across the country is undoubtedly commendable and we are grateful to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for this initiative. Today, we pledge through this program that we will all dedicate ourselves to the great cause for which the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has undertaken this plan. I would especially like to thank YPSA for organizing the training course for the youth of my ward. ”
