Safety Equipment Distribution in Ward Disaster Management Committee Meeting

Safety Equipment Distribution inaugurated by the Ward Counselor

On 17th August 2021, YPSA has distributed 29 kinds of safety equipment for urban community volunteers during the Ward Disaster Management Committee meeting at ward office of Ward-8 under Chattogram City Corporation. On behalf of YPSA, with the support of Save the Children, Project Coordinator of Proyash II, Sanzida Akter officially transferred all the safety equipment to the President of WDMC, Morshed Alam.

Among the equipment stretcher, Mega phone/hand mike, torch light, steel bashi, tripod, steel belcha, plyers, umbrella, daa, hand saw, spade, ABCE Fire stryem Bottel, first aid box, safety shoe and belt, hydrolic jog, hand gloves, scissors, tin cutter kachi, mask, iron break corat, sly range, fire gum boot, steel tanks were significant. In the meeting other WDMC member Alhaj Emranul Hoque, Shudhanshu Bikash Ray, and Secretary of Ward-8 Mojammel Hoque were also present.

Volunteers

The meeting was facilitated by Project Officer, Ataul Hakim and Moderated by Project Coordinator Sanzida Akter. President of WDMC, Morshed Alam was present as chief guest in the meeting. Project Coordinator Sanzida Akter said “Urban Community Volunteers are working risking their own lives during the pandemic. They are now like family member of YPSA.

Speech

YPSA counts their contribution and do advocacy for their recognition to local governance. To increase the support for volunteers YPSA is providing safety equipment to WDMC, so that volunteers can use their learning from the training properly and work with safety.” Chief guest President of WDMC, Morshed Alam said, “We are grateful for the support we are receiving from YPSA, Proyash II project. I request my ward volunteers to use these equipment carefully. I hope volunteers will work attentively and will keep the motivation of volunteerism in real”.

Equipment

To be mentioned here, Urban Community Volunteers of Ward 8 contributes to social welfare by initiating different awareness campaign and assisting local councilors and governance during any emergency for disaster management. They have been responding during fire incident, dengue and chikungunya prevention, cleaning campaign, rescue people during waterlogging and landslide in Heavy monsoon.

Moreover, they have done tremendous job during the COVID-19 pandemic. They assist local governance in food aid distribution on behalf of Prime Minister for financially affected people during the pandemic. Also they voluntarily draw circles to guide people about social distancing, spray disinfect in public places and roads, buried deaths from COVID-19, and distribute awareness massages about COVID-19 prevention. To be mentioned that under Proyash II project with the support of Save the Children, YPSA organized three days log training cource by FSCD for these 50 Urban Community Volunteers.
