YPSA has organized a two-day capacity building training for youth forum members for climate adaptation action at the conference room of YPSA Banshkhali Office of Chattogram on 10-11 August 2022. The training was organized to build the capacity and leadership skills for youth at at the community level to further mobilize people for positive climate actions and rights of climate forced displaced people under ‘Addressing the rights and needs of climate forced displaced people of south-eastern coast of Bangladesh’ which was supported by Climate justice resilient fund (CJRF).
Mr. Shovon Chowdhury started the training with ice breaking session and discussed the purpose, virtues and cons of leaders and social leadership, volunteerism, human rights and communications mechanism. Participants attended the training actively throughout the various group work. To be mentioned here a pre-test and post-test was taken from the participants to ensure better understanding of the learning of the participants. Prabal Barua, Program Manager of the YPSA – CJRF project provide the outline of objective of youth forum establishment and their future positive role towards the rights and needs of climate displaced people. He also discussded with youth about the concept of weather, climate and reasons of climate change in the present world through the different group work and lecture method.
Mohammad Shahjahan, Deputy Director and Head of YPSA-KM4D department discussed with youth through participatory way about the impact of climate change and climate displacement issues in Bangladesh and also in Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram district. Morshed Hossan Molla, M&E Officer of YPSA-CJRF project explained the meaning and importance of climate change adaptation initiative for community resilience to youth forum members in response to climate change and also explained the social development action plan development of youth for community engagement event in the local area for wellbeing of climate displaced people in their respective areas.
Participants of the Youth forum members in 2 days training share their experienced about the achievement of the training for their life. They said that they have motivated for volunteerism activities, knowledge about the climate change and displacement issues now clear and they are ready to support for climate displaced communities and they will develop the social action plan for raise the voice for climate displaced people to ensure their rights as a human rights.
