YPSA has awarded 6 women entrepreneurs and 6 group leaders under Swisscontact’s “Sarathi-Improving Financial Health” project. A learning and sharing event was organized on 24 January 2024 at a restaurant in Chattogram. Chief Executive of YPSA Md. Arifur Rahman chaired the event while Afifa Begum, Divisional Director of labor department, Mostafa Mostakur Rahim Khan, Additional Director of Social Welfare, Chattogram Division were present.
YPSA started Sarathi project on December 2022 with the objectives to motivate 10000 RMG workers and their community to develop their financial resilience and plan for a financially secure future by savings, as well as to provide EDBM (Entrepreneurship Development and Business Management) training among 500 women Entrepreneur to develop their business. Most of those women quit or were unemployed from the Readymade Garment Factories during the corona pandemic.
Jesmin Sultana Paru, Chairperson ADAB, Dr. Abdus Salam, Assistant Professor, Rangamati Medical College, Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Slum Development Officer, CTG City Corporation, Salma Akhter, Manager, Partnerships and advocacy, Swisscontact delivered their speeches as honorable guest. More over Swisscontact- Bangladesh Team, Bank officials, RMG management team, YPSA Sarathi project and microfinance staff, Women Entrepreneur, Group leader and Savings member also attended the event.
