A team from Save the Children Japan visited YPSA’s Education Cannot Wait (ECW) & Education in Emergencies (EIE) Project in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, on July 7th and 8th, 2024. Their visit aimed to assess the project’s impact on Rohingya people (Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals) and Bangladeshi host communities.
Day 1: Observing Education Initiatives at the Rohingya Camp
On July 7th, the delegation visited Camp 10. They observed classes at the Community Based Learning Facility (CBLF) and Learning Centers (LC), focusing on teaching methods, learning processes, and how the project ensures inclusion for children with disabilities.
Engaging with Stakeholders
The team met with members of the Community Education Support Group (CESG) to understand their perspectives on the project’s effectiveness. They also interacted with parents, adolescent girls, and teachers, conducting interviews to gain firsthand insights.
Day 2: Exploring Education in the Host Community
On July 8th, the delegation visited the Saikat Learning Centers in Sonar Para, a host community. They observed an Early Childhood Development (ECD) class, engaging with the young learners and their activities.
Collaborative Discussion
Following the visit, the Save the Children Cox’s Bazar team hosted a debriefing meeting with the delegation and ECW Consortium Partners at a hotel. During the meeting, the Save the Children Japan team expressed their positive impressions of the project.
