A contract was singed between Summit LNG Terminal Co. Ltd. (SLNG) and Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) for implementing the extension of Livelihood Enhancement Project (LEP) in Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar on 28th October 2025.
Building on the success of the first phase of LEP, SLNG has extended the project for an additional year, running till September 2026. YPSA has implemented the first phase of the Livelihood Enhancement Project (LEP) 2020 to 2024 with the support of SLNG. The project provided skills development for 1,591 beneficiaries and grants of about Tk One Crore was disbursed.
The individuals are primarily small-scale fishermen operating boats from the areas of Ghotibhanga, Sonadia, Tajiakata, and Nayapara. Men received vocational training on boat repair along with toolkits earning an average Tk 9,000 to 12,000 per month.
Similarly, women were given training on tailoring and electric sewing machines. They learned how to weave fish nets and a healthy way of drying fish (Shutki) using solar tents. They were given fishing gear which they rent-out for additional earning.
SLNG also has supported for a comprehensive renovation of the Sonadia Government Primary School was undertaken of about Tk 40 Lakh and handed it over to Upazila Education Officer (UEO) under this project.

The event was attended by key officials from both organizations. From SLNG – Md Sayedul Alam, Managing Director & CEO, Mohammed Shamsul Alam, Advisor, Md. Rafiqul Islam, Sr. Manager and Md. Mehedi Hasan Ovi, Deputy Manager, EHS and from YPSA – Dr. Md. Arifur Rahman, Founder and Chief Executive, Nasim Banu, Director, Social Development Department and Md. Nazmul Haider, Assistant Director – were present at the signing ceremony
