As a youth-led organization, YPSA, with the support of Action Aid Bangladesh, organizes an annual Youth Camp to increase young peoples’ awareness on social development issues and encourage them to take on leadership roles within their communities. This year YPSA organized the 2nd National Youth Camp specifically with participation of youth with disabilities on 21-23 December 2008 in Sitakund. Participants included 20 young people with disabilities (representing 10 organizations) from Chittagong and Dhaka, as well as 2 international volunteers with YPSA. Several issues were discussed such as disability & equality, volunteerism & development, UNCRPD, communication and leadership, disaster & disability, function not disability, information & communication technology, rights of women with disabilities, role of youth in development and young people & HIV/AIDS. Participants also went on field visits also organized to see several issues affecting persons with disabilities in Sitakund.
