Refugee and Migratory Movement Research Unit (RMRU), an organization under Dhaka University, organized the program- “Remittance Utshob [festival] and Sonar Manush [golden people] Award”-at at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka on 10 August at the honour of the remittance earners who are sending home billions of dollars every year, keeping the foreign currency reserve high and the balance of payment favorable to the economy.
Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, labour and employment minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Bangladesh Bank governor Dr Aitur Rahman and Md. Mahbubar Rahman from YPSA were participated in the occasion. Kumira Migrants Rights Protection Committee awarded Shonar Manush Shommanona, 2009. Kumira is the working area of YPSA’s Capacity Building for Ensuring Safe Labour Migration Program in the Chittagong district. Bangladesh Bank (BB) Deputy Governor Ziaul Hassan Siddiqui chaired the inaugural session, addressed by RMRU adviser Dr Tasneem Siddiqui and senior bankers from different public and private sectors.
