Muhammed Ali Shahin, Program Officer of Policy Research and Advocacy Unit of YPSA is visiting the United States of America to join the International Visitor Leadership Program entitled `NGOs and Civic Activism’ which is sponsored by The US Department of State (DOS); administrated by World Learning Visitor Exchange Program from 21 September to 10 October ’09. The objective of the project is to introduce the participants to innovative management strategies of NGOs, explore the diversified independent sector in the US and examine the methodologies of NGOs. Around 23 Participants are joining different programs/events of the project such as -meetings, discussions, sight-seeing, debates etc.
The team has met with Mr. Steven Culbertson, President and Chief Executive Officer, Youth Service America; Ms. Megan Freedman, Program Director & Ms. Monica Dignam, Vice President of American Society of Association Executives (ASAE); Mr Akram Elias , President, Capital Communications Group, LLC. On 23rd September Mr. Shahin including the entire team had a live discussion with the high senior officials from UNDP , USAID and World bank. The officials are Democracy Officer, USAID; Ms. Preeti Shroff-Mehta, Consultant, World Bank and UNDP, Ms Juliana Geran Pilon, Professor of Politics and Culture, The Institute of World Politics. In San dieago Mr. Shahin met with Midea Personalities of USA , some advocacy organizations and universities. The organizers have also arranged sight seeing, visiting some harbors and beaches and parks.
