YPSA organized a Orientation Workshop on Smoke Free Policy in Comilla on 1st March with the assistance of Bloomberg Initiatives and Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids.. All the Coalition members participated in the workshop. Mr. Mohammad Arif, Chief Executive Officer of Comilla Municipality was present as the chief guest.
Ms. Nasim Banu, Team leader, Smoke Free project, YPSA has delivered the power point presentation on the steps of smoke free policy formulation, key elements of Policy, Principle and Fundamentals of Policy. Mr. Mohammad Arif, Chief Executive Officer of Comilla Municipality gave his commitment to declare the Comilla Municipality premises as smoke free work place. He also inaugurated the campaign activity through poster and sticker.
A small working committee for developing the smoke free policy has been formed comprised with 10 members. Chief Executive Officer of Comilla Municipality is the convener of the working committee. Besides that one person from different sectors like Journalist, lawyer, NGO, Religious leader, Councilor, Teachers, Market committee, Doctor and youth group is also the members of the committee. PIDS and DARPAN cooperated to organize the workshop.
