YPSA distributes insecticide-treated mosquito nets in Rangunia

“Besides the government, NGO’s role on women empowerment and development of health sectors are admirable.   Malaria is a national crisis, particularly hillside dweller expose to malaria. Malaria can be controlled raising awareness, ensuring use of mosquito nets and proper diagnosis and medication.” Said State Minister for Environment and Forests Dr Hasan Mahmud at a insecticide-treated mosquito net distribution program in Ragunia on 20 Jully organized by YPSA.  

President of Shilok Mohila College governing body and political leader Mr. Nur Nabi presided the meeting while Rangunia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mr. Tanvir Azam Siddiki was present in the meeting.

Rangunia was recognized as malaria epidemic. YPSA has been rigorously working for years to combat malaria in malaria prone area of Bangladesh such as the Rangunia. YPSA’s activities include, Providing education through forums and households visit, treatment to uncomplicated patients and ensuring drug intake. Diagnosis using RDT and Laboratory. Prompt effective malarial treatment. LLIN (Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Net) distribution. ITN (Insecticide Treated Nets), Vector control (other than ITNs)-IRS, BCC: Community level and Mass media, organizing advocacy workshop, organizing popular theatre and folk song, monitoring drug and insecticide resistance.
