International Migrants Day 2013 observed

Successful migrant receiving crest from DC of Cox'sbazar

YPSA, Survivor Voice “ ANIRBAN, Cox’sbazar District Administration, Cox’sbazar District Employment & Manpower Office Jointly organized discussion meeting, information fair & documentary film show at Cox’sbazar on 18 December to mark the International Migrants Day 2013.

Md. Ruhul Amin, District Commissioner of   Cox’sbazar District Administration was present as chief guest while Mr. Romion Kanti Das, Assistant Director, District Manpower & Employment office ( DEMO) presided over the meeting. Mr. Abul Hossen, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) was the special guest in the meeting.  M. Jubaer Azam Helali, Manager of Islami Bank, Cox’sbazar Branch, Engineers Mr. Kanan Pual, ED, Experual, Mr. Bimol Das, ED- Mukti spoke in the meeting. After the discussion meeting, 3 successful migrants were awarded as best remittance sender.

Moreover, ANIRBAN and YPSA have arranged a day long Information Fair on Human Trafficking & Unsafe Migration in front of Deputy Commissioner (DC) office of Cox’sbazar. Different Govt. Officials, Journalist, NGO representatives and community people participated in the program. In the evening a documentary film on human trafficking and unsafe migration has been projected.

Since year 2000, the international community has used December 18, International Migrants Day, to highlight the human rights of migrants. Making migrants voices heard is the common thread throughout International Migrants Day events.
