YPSA has organized a two-days Training on “Implementation of Smoke Free Guideline for Local government in Bangladesh” during 6-7 April 2014 at YPSA-HRDC, Chittagong with the support of Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CTFK). The aim of the training was to contribute to the capacity development of organizations working on smoke free policy implementation in Bangladesh by facilitating knowledge, skills and experience sharing on advocacy initiatives with local government for implementation of the smoke-free guideline and establishing collaboration for strengthening smoke free work.
17 participants from smoke free BI Grantees (ACD, AID, ACLAB, DAM, NATAB and YPSA) have participated in the training. Mr. Sharifur Alam, Deputy Secretary of Bangladesh Government, Mr. Taifur Rahman, TFK and Nasim Banu Shyamali from YPSA facilitated the training. In the closing and certificate giving ceremony, Mr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Director, Local Government, Chittagong Division was presented as chief guest and distributed certificate to the participants.
Mr. Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive of YPSA also thanked to all participants and resource persons. The Chief Guest said that he would co-operate YPSA and take initiative for making the local government smoke free in Chittagong division.
