“Ensuring accountable participation in all levels will ensure rights of marginalized communities and development projects can easily be implemented. Development organizations should come forward for the advancement of hill district Khagrachari.” Said Kongjary Chowdhury, Chairman of Khagrachari Hill District Council while he was present as chief guest in a launching ceremony of “Creating an Enabling Environment for Young People to Claim and access to their Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights in Bangladesh” project organized by YPSA on 30 November 2015 at KHDC conference room, Khagrachari.
“If this project is implemented properly, people ages between 10 and 24 in isolated area will be aware of early marriage, dowry, sexual harassment and physical and mental changes during puberty. Parents, local government and civil society have to work together.” He added.
YPSA is implementing this project in Panchari upazila of Khagrachari with the support of Plan International Bangladesh.
Civil surgeon of Khagrachari Dr. Nishat Nandi presided over the program while member of Khagrachari Hill District Council Khogesshar Tripura; Nirbahi Officer Abdur Rahman Tarafder; Deputy Director of Family Planning, Khagrachari Biplob Barua; Project Director of Plan International Dr. Ana Islam; Director (SDP) of YPSA Mahabubur Rahman, journalist, teachers, UP members and NGO representatives were present in the launching program.
