Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar inaugurated Community Engagement in Countering Violent Extremism project (2nd Round)

Since 2016, YSPA has been implementing a project “Community Engagement in Countering Violent Extremism in Cox’ Bazar (CEVEC) in six Upazilas of Cox’s Bazar District with the support of GCERF. From November 2019, the second round of the project is being implemented in four Upazilas of Cox’s Bazar district (Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Ramu, Chakria and Maheshkhali) and Sitakund upazila of Chittagong district.

The inaugural ceremony of the second round of the project was held on 30 December 2019 at Arunoday Auditorium in Cox’s Bazar. The Honorable Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar Md. Kamal Hossain was present as the chief guest on the occasion, chaired by Md. Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive, YPSA.

Representatives of local government, media, religious groups, teachers, NGOs, youth groups and youth forum attended the inaugural ceremony.

The meeting emphasized the importance of ensuring participation of all in the fight against violent extremism.

Chief Guest, Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamal Hossain assured all cooperation in implementing project activities. He appreciated YPSA’s activities at the grassroots level and requested for keeping coordination with the government and the private level to continue the project activities.
