Training on “Search, Rescue, First aid & Fire Fighting for Urban Community Volunteers” started

A three-day training on “Search, Rescue, First aid & Fire Fighting for Urban Community Volunteers” started at the Chandanpura Fire Service and Civil Defense Station on 11th February, 2020. The training workshop was organized by YPSA under Proyash II project, supported by Save the Children. Trainers of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense are conducting the training workshop. A total of 50 volunteers from 19 no ward of Chottagram City Corporation enthusiastically attended the inauguration ceremony.

The training course was inaugurated by Chief Executive Officer of City Corporation, Mr. Md. Shamsuddoha. The inaugural program was presided over by Mr. Azizul Islam, Chief Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense and facilitated by Mr. Ataul Hakim, Program Officer of YPSA, Chattogram division.

Moreover, Mr. Farid Ahmed Chowdhury, Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense, Chattogram division, Yasin Chowdhury Asu, 19 no ward Councilor, Chattogram City Corporation, Farzana Parvin, 17,18, and 19 no ward women councilor, Abdus Sabur, Manager of YPSA, Sanjida Akter, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of Proyash Project,  Palash Chowdhury, Director Finance of YPSA and Focal person of Disaster Management and Ms. Shukla Thakur, Deputy Manager of Save the Children were also present.

Chief guest, Chief Executive Officer of Chattogram City Corporation, Mr. Md. Shamsuddoha asserted that these trained up volunteers are not only volunteers of 19 no ward, they are asset for our entire City Corporation and we should maintain a national database which will be updated periodically with new trained volunteers name.

In addition, Ms. Shukla Thakur, Deputy Manager of Save the Children encouraged  volunteers to complete the training sincerely and be prepared always to be first responder for any emergencies.
