On 23 March 2021, UNDP hosts 5th Chattogram Urban Network (CUN) coordination meeting at LIUPCP-UNDP office. The event was moderated by Md. Sarowar Hossain Khan, LIUPCP Town Manager at Chattogram City Corporation and has facilitated by Nasin Banu Shyamali, Secretariat of Chattogram Urban Network and Director of Social Development, YPSA. In total 18 INGOs and NGOs working in Chattogram urban area attend the event. The organizations are YPSA, Save the Children, DSK, World Vision, CODEC, Ghashful, BITA, JSUS, Nishkriti, CPP, ELLMA, Shangshaptaq, UTSA, Nowzuwan, Agrajatra, Mamata, and Coast Foundation.
The meeting effortlessly facilitated according the agendas such as stakeholders’ consultation on Chattogram for future plan, discussion on Chattogram City Master Plan and Multi-hazard contingency plan, involvement of different stakeholders as a member of CUN and every organizations participate enthusiastically.
Md. Sarowar Hossain Khan, LIUPCP Town Manager at Chattogram City Corporation says, Chattogram Urban Network will work collaboratively with local government for the better future of Chattogram and will make technical contribution with all the expertise as joint effort of development practitioners.
Simon Rahman, Manager-Urban Resilience, Save the Children emphasizes on adding new agenda from next meeting about sharing upcoming events from each organizations where they think the scope of collaboration exists.
Everyone agrees to add the upcoming events as regular agenda. Following to that, World Vision, UTSA, DSK, Jugantar, CPP, SAARC manobadhikar songstha and Agrojatra show their interest to collaborate with Save the Children and YPSA regarding upcoming event on Mayor Award for best volunteers in Chattogram Urban Area.
At the end, Jugantor show their interest to host the next Chattogram Urban Network meeting. The secretariat of Chattogram Urban Network and Director of Social Development, YPSA reviewed all the decisions and close the meeting showing gratitude to UNDP for hosting wonderful event and giving everyone heartfelt thanks for equal participation.
