Three journalists receive YPSA-Sitakund Press Club Journalism Award 2023

YPSA-Sitakund Press Club Journalism Award 2023

Three journalists from Sitakund Press Club have been awarded the YPSA-Sitakund Press Club Journalism Award 2023. The award was given to them in recognition of their outstanding reporting on development issues in Sitakund Upazila. The chief guest of the ceremony was Alhaj SM Al Mamun, Member of Parliament for Chattogram-4 constituency.

In his speech, the chief guest said that the journalism award is a good initiative of YPSA. He also said that the collaboration of all organizations in the Upazila, including YPSA, is needed to build a Smart Bangladesh.

The award ceremony was held at the Sitakund Press Club auditorium on February 17.

The awardees are:

  • Krishna Chandra Das,Daily Prothom Alo
  • Soumitra Chakraborty,Daily Kaler Kantho
  • Liton Kumar Chowdhury,Daily Azadi

The jury board of the competition was headed by KM Rafiqul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Sitakund.

The award winners received a cash prize, crest, and certificate.

Mohammad Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive of YPSA, presided over the program and Mohammad Ali Shahin, Focal Person of YPSA’s Advocacy Program, moderated the program.

Badrul Alam, Mayor of Sitakund Municipality, was the chief speaker. He announced the names of the winners.

Dr. Nur Uddin Rashed, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Kamal Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Sitakund Police Station, and Rezaul Karim Bahar, Chairman of Muradpur Union Parishad, were present as special guests.

Md. Arifur Rahman, Founding member and Chief Executive of YPSA, said that the YPSA-Sitakund Press Club Journalism Award is being given for the third time. He said that all those who participated in the competition this time wrote well. Three journalists were awarded on the basis of the jury board’s decision.

He further said that journalists will play a leading role in reaching the government’s development work to the people to build a smart Bangladesh. YPSA has always been cooperating in the development of the country and will continue to do so in the future.

Other speakers at the ceremony were SM Alamgir, President of Sitakund Press Club and Liton Kumar Chowdhury,General Secretary of Sitakund Press Club.

The speakers at the ceremony said that journalists will play a leading role in taking the government’s development work to the doorsteps of the people in order to build a Smart Bangladesh by 2041. They also said that YPSA is playing an important role in the development of Sitakund Upazila.

MP Alhaj SM Al Mamun said that YPSA is an active organization in Sitakund. It has been playing a positive role in the overall development of Sitakund for the last four decades. He said that this initiative of YPSA will definitely increase the quality and speed of work of the journalists of Sitakund Press Club.

He also said that journalists are the conscience of the nation. Journalists will continue to play an impartial role in highlighting the various inconsistencies, crimes, injustices and irregularities of the society. He expressed his determination to build a smart Sitakund by taking all the active organizations of the Upazila including YPSA along.

Local public representatives, social leaders and other members of the press club were present at the ceremony.
