YPSA has always been vocal in the anti-smoking movement and has been playing an active role since its inception in policy formulation and anti-smoking campaigns. YPSA’s offices and campuses are all “smoke-free” zones, which the organization strictly adheres to and enforces. Said Md. Arifur Rahman, Founder Chief Executive of YPSA in an event on World No Tobacco Day 2024.
The day was celebrated on May 31st at YPSA Head Office with the theme “Protecting the environment and promoting a healthy future for all.”
Dr. Shamsun Nahar Chowdhury Lopa, member of the YPSA General Committee was present as guest of honor in the event.
Md. Arifur Rahman emphasized the importance of taking personal and collective initiatives to ensure this at the family and community levels as well.
It is worth mentioning that YPSA organizes anti-smoking workshops, discussions, and seminars in various schools, colleges, and universities. They also use social media to raise awareness about the harmful effects of smoking.
YPSA Director (Finance) Palash Chowdhury, Director (Economic Development) Mohammad Manjur Morshed Chowdhury, Director (Social Development) Nasim Banu, Director (Knowledge Development) Mohammad Shahajan, Assistant Director (HR Development and Administration) Gazi Main Uddin, Program Manager Bhaskar Bhattacharya were present in the program.
