YPSA has successfully concluded a three-day training program titled “Capacity Building Training on Gender-Responsive Adolescent-Friendly and Culturally Sensitive SRH Services”. Organized in collaboration with BAPSA under the “Health System Resiliency for Improved SRHR in Bangladesh Project”-funded by Global Affairs Canada and supported by the HealthBridge Foundation of Canada-the workshop was designed to strengthen Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) service delivery across the Chattogram metropolitan area.
Held from September 14 to 16 at Sampan Hall, Best Western SKS in Agrabad, the initiative brought together frontline healthcare providers from the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) and Primary Health Care Centers (PHCC) to equip them with the tools and counseling approaches needed to offer gender-responsive, youth-friendly, and culturally sensitive clinical care.
The opening day of the workshop was attended by key project leadership, including SRHR Project Team Leader Shamima Chowdhury, Assistant Director of Social Development Farhana Idris, and YPSA Project Manager Ibrahim Khalil Bhuiyan. Expert instruction and technical guidance throughout the sessions were provided by resource persons Dr. Shamima Hasnat and Dr. Delware Akhter, alongside SRHR project officials from YPSA and MAMATA and BAPSA. By tackling core systemic and social barriers, the curriculum focused on empowering health staff to ensure local adolescents and young adults can access non-judgmental healthcare safely and confidentially.
At the closing ceremony, Chief Health Officer of Chattogram City Corporation, Dr. Imam Hossain Rana, highlighted the significance of the training, expressing his expectation that it will prove immensely useful in delivering quality SRHR services across Chattogram. The final session was also attended by Mohd. Humayoun Kabir, Program Implementation & Training Coordinator at BAPSA. The event formally concluded with the distribution of completion certificates to all participating healthcare staff, marking the successful culmination of this vital capacity-building initiative.
