Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CTFK) has organized a workshop on “Implementation of Tobacco Control Law in Bangladesh” from 3-6 December 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand. 25 participants from 9 Bangladeshi CTFK grantees, Government officials, Journalist and representatives from CTFK participated in the workshop. The objectives of the workshop were to review progress and challenges with current enforcement system and reporting, to expand and strengthen strategic efforts to stimulate enforcement of the law in Bangladesh, develop strategies for sectoral implementation to draft state level plans that incorporate new strategies and targets and identify changes & next steps for enforcement.
The workshop was covered with field visit, joint session with a number of Indian tobacco control organizations and implementation of TC law in Bangladesh with Bangladesh grantees. The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Yolonda Richardson, Executive Vice President, Global Programs, Mr. Mark Hurley, Director, Ms. Vandana Shah, Director, South East Asia Programs, Mr. Aaron Schwid, Legal Advisor, Mr. Taifur Rahman, Advocacy Coordinator from CTFK.
Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Director (Social Development Program), Ms. Nasim Banu, Team Leader of Smoke Free Project and Mr. Mohammed Ali Shahin, Program Officer of Smoke Free Project participated in the workshop from YPSA.
