Joint Secretary of Ministry of Information visited Radio Sagor Giri FM 99.2

Ms. Anowara Begum, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information, Bangladesh Government visited YPSA led first community radio of Chittagong Radio Sagor Giri FM 99.2 in Sitakund on May 1, 2014. Md. Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive, YPSA, Md. Mahabubur Rahman, Director (SD), YPSA and Md Shah Sultan Shamim, Station Manager, Radio Sagor Giri welcomed her when she arrived at YPSA HRDC Sitakund Campus. At first she visits Sagor Giri office and its studio and monitors activities of program producer and volunteers. At this time she listened to some recorded programs. She traveled to a village to visit Guliakhali Women Listeners Club and Shishu Mela Listeners Club of Sagor Giri. She talked to some women and children there and asked them about Sagor Giri, what sorts of programs they like, how they are getting benefits and what type of program should be produced etc.

After visiting listeners clubs, she attended a view exchange meeting with the Sagor Giri Management Committee and radio personals. Station manager of Sagor Giri Mr. Shah Sultan Shamim presented current position, progresses and future plan of Sgaor Giri in the meeting. Ms. Anowara Begum said that the government’s objective of giving approval of establishing community radio around the country is going to be fulfilled. She would provide support through his ministry if Radio Sagor Giri needs any support to keep up its success.
